Traditional damage model requires large amounts of computational time and the simulation results are mesh dependent. We adopt the emulated RVE (ERVE) method to greatly improve the computational efficiency while guaranteeing the convexity and mesh-independence of the results. This method creates a series of 1-D representative volume elements within every integration point of the elements in macro level. The displacement variables of the model are calculated at the macro level by finite element method and the damage variables are regularized at the micro level by finite difference method. In addition, since the regularization in this method is only inside the integration point which does not contain any non-local information, it can be well implemented in commercial software such as Abaqus or Ansys.
